Il Moro Di Venezia
Challenger XXVIII America’s Cup

In 1992 JWT Italy approached Sampson Tyrrell, both part of WPP, to create a new brand for Raul Gardini challenge for the 28th America’s Cup. This was the ‘first time in history’ that branding took centre stage
by an America’s Cup Challenger.

Moro Di Venezia Challenge was headed by industrialist Raul Gardini and sole sponsor Montedison.
The team won the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup but failed to win the 28th America’s Cup.

The worked shown demonstrates the forward thinking of our client and team at the time.
Branding the boat, team uniforms, support vehicles, team base and all PR merchandise.
The limited edition book below was given to VIP guests at the official launch in Venice which included
a specially commissioned song to launch Il Moro Di Venezia by Van Morrison.
